We listen, ask and discuss because we sincerely believe that active dialogue with our stakeholders will help us reach the best possible outcome.

Local activity

We regularly communicate information about our activities in village briefing evenings and at our events. We also actively participate in local public events. In 2023, we organised several information and discussion sessions on a variety of subjects, such as groundwater modelling, voluntary ecological compensation, and the assessment of environmental impacts.

At the village briefing evenings we talk about the progress made with the mining project as well as the currently ongoing fieldwork of exploration drilling and ore prospecting. At our annual open day event, the participants can familiarise themselves with the operations of our different departments and speak to our experts.

We are committed to a long-term project

Sakatti brings decades of wellbeing and vitality particularly for North Finland, and we are committed for the long-term in the development of the vitality in the area. 

We provide jobs for competent professionals in a variety of fields: we employ around 60 people in Sodankylä and Oulu. During the wintertime drilling season, we employ approximately 150 employees. 

The opportunities offered by Sakatti also mean responsibility for the sustainable development of the area, and we take this responsibility seriously. 

We work closely with other enterprises, local and national authorities, and local communities for us to develop the project in a responsible manner, and to ensure that local services and the infrastructure can support this development. 

Local community

We feel it is important to support local business life, and wherever possible we make acquisitions from local traders and service providers.  

We also want to ensure that the local community benefits from the project and we willingly support local activities and events. Our sponsorship emphases are on children and young people, the disadvantaged, sports, other recreational activities, and culture. Registered clubs and associations can apply for sponsorship from us by filling out the application form.  

Please make sure that you apply for support for your event or function in good time. We appreciate receiving applications as early as possible, i.e. approximately two months before the start of the intended event or function.
