Syrjälä has previously worked at Boliden Kevitsa Mining Oy as EHSQ Manager and been involved in the Kevitsa open-pit mine in the project phase all the way through acquiring permits to the mine’s implementation.

As the Principal Safety & Sustainable Development, Syrjälä is in charge of AA Sakatti Mining Oy’s stakeholder relations, social and environmental impact assessment, permits and the development of the company’s environment and responsibility work. She has expertise in managing environmental issues and an educational background in metallurgy and environmental protection. A Sodankylä-native, Syrjälä is an excellent addition to the company’s strong skillset.

Our company’s previous Principal Safety & Sustainable Development Joanna Kuntonen-van’t Riet will move to work in Anglo American Group’s sustainable development strategy team as Sustainable Strategy Principal. Syrjälä will start in the new position on 3 September 2018.
